About Thea Energy:
Thea Energy is leveraging recent breakthroughs in stellarator physics and engineering to create a faster and simpler approach to commercializing fusion energy. The company is reinventing the stellarator using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils thereby replacing the intricate, complex modular magnets required in all other stellarator architectures. Thea Energy is on a mission to create a limitless source of zero emission energy for a sustainable future.
Position Overview:
Thea Energy is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Electrical Technician to support the Electrical Distribution team in the construction, installation, and testing of electrical systems for the Eos Stellarator. The successful candidate will work directly alongside Senior Power Systems Engineers, Power Electronics Engineers, and Hardware Design Engineers to bring advanced power concepts from design to reality.
This role requires a versatile technician who can seamlessly transition between supporting the build of high-current power supplies , assembling electrical distribution panels, and executing the physical installation of facility infrastructure. The technician will play a critical role in the hardware bring-up, debugging, and overall electrical integration of a cutting-edge fusion energy system.
Key Responsibility Areas:
•
Assembly & Prototyping: Build and wire power supplies, energy storage systems, custom embedded control boards, and high-current AC-DC converters for HTS magnets.
•
Infrastructure Installation: Support the physical installation and cabling of MV/LV switchgear, transformers, distribution panels, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
•
Facility Support: Assist in integrating auxiliary electrical systems and balance-of-plant (BoP) infrastructure, providing electrical connections for cryogenics, vacuum, cooling, and HVAC systems.
•
Testing & Validation: Set up testbeds and perform hardware bring-up, signal probing, and parameter optimization under staged load conditions.
•
Hardware Debugging: Perform board-level debugging, soldering, and rework on custom printed circuit boards (PCBs).
•
Documentation: Read, interpret, and provide field markups for single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.
