Position Title: Assistant General Counsel

Summary/Overview:
Kroll Bond Rating Agency, LLC and its affiliates (“KBRA”) are seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join the Legal Department in the New York office. You will be enthusiastic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, have a strong work ethic and be well-equipped to work closely with other members of the Legal Department on a broad range of matters, with a particular focus on litigation, government and regulatory matters and internal investigations, as well as other matters that arise across the Legal Department.
About the Team:
The Legal Department handles all of KBRA’s legal matters, with the exception of ratings analysis and determinations. The Legal Department works with analysts, Compliance, Business Development, Human Resources, Finance, Technology and senior management across the company.
About the Job:
As an Assistant General Counsel, your responsibilities may span a broad range of in-house legal matters and may include:
•
Litigation Management: Managing and handling litigation and other disputes, including overseeing outside counsel, discovery and witness preparation.
•
Government and Regulatory Matters: Handling government and regulatory investigations, examinations, subpoenas and other inquiries, including coordinating document collection and production, preparing witnesses and working with outside counsel.
•
Internal Investigations: Conducting and participating in internal investigations, including developing investigation plans, reviewing evidence, conducting interviews and assessing findings.
•
Legal Technology and Process Improvement: Helping the Legal Department identify, evaluate and implement new technologies and processes, including GenAI-enabled tools and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, information management and collaboration.
•
Regulatory and Compliance: Developing familiarity with the regulatory framework applicable to credit rating agencies, advising on its application to KBRA’s business and collaborating with the Compliance Department on examinations, submissions and other matters before the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other regulators.

Special Projects: Assisting with other Legal Department matters and special projects as they arise
You will be successful in this role if you have:
•
Have a JD from an accredited law school and are admitted to the New York Bar.
•
Have at least 6 years of relevant legal experience, including meaningful experience in complex litigation, government or regulatory investigations, white-collar matters, internal investigations, employment litigation or a combination of these areas.
•
Have experience managing significant aspects of litigation or investigations, including discovery, document review and production, witness interviews or preparation, legal research and drafting.
•
Possess excellent legal research, analytical, writing and communication skills. Writing samples will be requested.
•
Exercise sound judgment, discretion and professionalism when handling confidential, sensitive or business-critical matters.
•
Are action and results-oriented and able to exercise good judgment in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
•
Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple matters, prioritize and meet deadlines.
•
Are comfortable using technology, including emerging technologies such as GenAI, to improve Legal Department processes.
Salary Range:
The anticipated annual base salary range for this full-time position is $200,000 to $250,000. Offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience, skills, geography, and other job-related factors.
