Key Responsibilities
• Database administration: Install, configure, maintain, and support Epic operational database environments, including production, testing, training, and disaster recovery. Execute approved environment refreshes and routine maintenance.
• Monitoring and performance: Investigate database growth, resource constraints, storage performance, and system alerts. Use Epic monitoring tools, including System Pulse and RedAlert, to identify and resolve problems before they disrupt operations.
• Backup and recovery: Maintain and validate database backups, journaling, and recovery procedures. Participate in high-availability and disaster recovery testing, including documented failover and restoration exercises.
• Upgrades and changes: Implement Epic upgrades, database updates, and maintenance changes through approved change-management processes, with documented testing, validation, and rollback procedures.
• Incident resolution: Diagnose production issues, coordinate escalations with Epic and InterSystems, and provide clear updates on impact, restoration progress, and corrective actions.
• Operational improvement: Automate repeatable administrative tasks, maintain configuration documentation and runbooks, and partner with infrastructure teams on capacity planning and recurring-problem elimination.
