At Bristol Myers Squibb, we’re looking for a Senior Manager, EHSS to join our Moreton, UK site - a hands-on, programme-owning role that sits within a collaborative EHSS leadership structure and puts you at the forefront of delivery across some of the most critical areas of site safety.
Reporting into the Director of Site Operations & EHS with a close working relationship with the Associate Director, EHS, Moreton, who is responsible for the delivery of the defined EHS Strategy, you’ll work within a clearly defined and well-supported framework: the AD EHS holds overall responsibility for the EHS strategy delivery and you will hold genuine delivery responsibility for the programmes that bring that strategy to life.
You’ll have the strategic backing and senior cover to focus on what you do best: executing, improving and driving real outcomes. No ambiguity about your remit. No trying to do everything alone. Just focused, high-impact delivery with strong leadership around you.
Where your expertise will make an impact
COSHH & Chemical Safety — you’ll own this end to end.

You’ll be responsible for the site COSHH compliance programme, ensuring robust chemical risk management, effective governance and ongoing regulatory compliance. With your strong understanding of chemical safety and occupational health, you’ll be the subject matter authority that colleagues and the wider EHSS team rely on. That’s a depth of specialism that keeps your skills sharp and your professional profile strong.
Safety Culture - you’ll move it forward, not just monitor it.

As Chair of the Site Safety Culture Group, your role here goes far beyond facilitation. You’ll drive initiatives that genuinely shift how people engage with safety - building ownership at all levels and continuing to move the site from compliance-as-habit to safety-as-conviction. If you’ve spent years believing that real safety is cultural rather than procedural, this is your platform to prove it. Risk Assessment - you’ll shape how the site understands its risks.

You’ll be responsible for the evolution of the site-wide risk assessment programme - from development and implementation through to review and governance. This isn’t maintenance work. The word evolution is deliberate: you’ll be expected to bring fresh thinking to how the site identifies, assesses, and manages its operational and regulatory risk landscape. That’s a mandate for genuine improvement, and a powerful feather in the cap of any senior EHS professional.
Training Framework - you’ll build the system that keeps people competent and safe.

Owning the site EHSS training framework and matrix means you’re responsible for making sure mandatory safety training, competency assessments and compliance requirements are not just met, but meaningfully delivered. You’ll bring structure, rigour, and a practical edge to the learning infrastructure that underpins safe operations across the site. For a professional with ambitions in senior EHS leadership, experience owning a training architecture of this scale is genuinely distinctive.
SOPs & Governance - you’ll be the standard-bearer for how things are done.

Responsible for the management and governance of EHSS procedures and SOPs, you’ll ensure the documentary backbone of site safety remains current, compliant and fit for purpose. Meticulous, yes but also strategically important. Strong document governance is what stands up to scrutiny when an inspector walks through the door. That experience is hard-won and highly valued.
Emergency Preparedness - you’ll be ready before anyone else needs to be.

From developing and implementing Emergency Response Plans to testing and continuous improvement, you’ll take responsibility for the work that ensures the site is prepared for the unexpected. Workplace Inspections - you’ll make sure standards are seen, not just set.

You’ll develop, implement, and maintain the workplace inspection programme - scheduling, communicating, and embedding inspection culture across the site. The outcome isn’t just compliance on paper; it’s a workforce that understands why the standards exist and takes ownership of meeting them.
Data & Performance - you’ll turn numbers into safer outcomes.

Analysing EHSS data to understand site performance trends and drive improvement isn’t a reporting task here - it’s a leadership one. Your ability to spot patterns, build the case for change and hold the site to continuous improvement will directly influence how safety performance evolves over time.
Day-to-Day EHSS Leadership — flexible, responsive, trusted.

You’ll direct the day-to-day resolution of technical, scientific and operational challenges under your remit, working closely with the Associate Director EHSS on complex or high-impact risk areas. When regulatory inspections, internal and external audits, incident investigations, or emerging business priorities arise, you’ll be one of the first people the site turns to. High visibility and a powerful marker of professional credibility.
What you bring
You’ll be the right fit for this role if you have:
•
10+ years of EHS experience in a regulated manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, laboratory, or industrial environment
•
A degree in EHS, Science, Engineering, Occupational Hygiene, or a related field
•
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification preferred - NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum
•
Chartered status with IOSH, IEMA, or BOHS, or actively working towards it
•
Solid knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
•
Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation
•
Proven experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action management
•
Hands-on experience with EHSS management systems, training platforms, and document control
•
A genuine track record of influencing culture and driving behavioural change across diverse audiences
