As a Research Student II, Post Baccalaureate, you will work closely with research personnel and participate in a structured learning experience in laboratory research in the Fawzi Lab. In this role, you will collect, process, and prepare tissue for cryosectioning and assist with immunohistological tissue labeling. You will also perform basic molecular and biochemical techniques, including polymerase chain reaction (PCR), quantitative PCR (qPCR), immunostaining, and Western blotting. Your work will support Dr. Fawzi’s National Institutes of Health (NIH) R01-funded research on age-related macular degeneration and ischemic retinal diseases. Through hands-on experience, you will develop skills in laboratory techniques, clinical procedures, data collection and analysis, and other areas relevant to careers in biomedical and clinical research.
