About the Team:
The team of attorneys on our Alternatives, Institutional and Private Client legal teams provide thoughtful and timely advice, as well as collaborative partnership with the business teams throughout the firm that serve our alternatives, institutional and private clients. The teams interact with many different roles at the firm including: portfolio managers, product and business development professionals, distribution and client service teams, operations specialists, compliance professionals, etc. The teams are also spread across various offices.
Who You’ll Work With:
AB is looking for a Summer Intern to support the Alternatives, Institutional and Private Client legal groups. You will provide assistance and support to the attorney teams who provide legal and regulatory advice relating to (1) the formation and management of alternative investment funds, collective investment trusts and other comingled vehicles, (2) investment management agreements and related arrangements for institutional investors and retail SMA clients, and (3) AB’s private client and wealth management business.
What You’ll Do:
As the summer intern, you will primarily execute your responsibilities in partnership with the teams of attorneys that support alternatives, institutional and private client matters. This is a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Your responsibilities include assisting and providing support in various activities, including fund formation and launch matters for alternative funds, collective investment trusts and other commingled vehicles (such as reviewing and summarizing fund documents and tracking open items), investment management agreements and related documents for institutional and retail SMA clients, and legal matters for private client management. In addition, you will assist in drafting templates, policies, legal memoranda and other documents. We anticipate that you will also have opportunities to learn about and provide assistance to other legal groups at AB, and additional activities as directed by management.
We will invest in you as you attend meetings on new regulatory initiatives and participate in compliance-training efforts. This role may also be asked to assist in broader firm-wide legal and compliance initiatives and projects.
What We’re Looking For:
• Successful completion of the first year of law school
• Eligible for employment in the US without visa sponsorship (now or in the future)
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel
