Deloitte’s AI Institute helps New Zealand executives understand what is changing in AI and make informed decisions as the field moves quickly. New models, tools, research and claims arrive every day. We work out which developments deserve attention and turn them into something New Zealand leaders can understand and use.
About the role
We are looking for a Senior Consultant with a strong technical foundation who follows AI closely. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role. You will create clear briefings, decks, short videos and learning resources for executives at our key clients. To keep that work useful and current, you will explore new tools, assess claims against evidence and follow shifts in policy and the industries our clients work in. You will cut through the hype and work out what these changes mean for organisations and everyday life in New Zealand.
The role requires initiative and strong self-direction. You will work within agreed priorities and take responsibility for moving the work forward. You will often take a short brief, fill the gaps, bring ideas and produce a strong first version. You will organise a varied portfolio of Institute work, prioritise competing requests, keep deadlines on track and know when to seek input.
The material you create will support two connected parts of the Institute’s work. The first helps key clients and New Zealand executives keep pace with AI. The second is the Institute’s AI Academy, which turns existing keynotes, presentations and expert input into structured learning. Relevant insights from Deloitte’s global network can be used when they improve the work.
You will work with the AI Institute Director and other Deloitte leaders to shape arguments, draft the material they refine, write scripts, prepare presenters, support recording and edit the finished work.

What you will do
Responsibilities
1.
Stay close to AI and create useful material
•
Keep up with new models, tools, research, policy and practice. Identify what is worth the Institute’s attention.
•
Work out what developments mean for New Zealand. This could range from a new model’s practical value to sovereign AI or the effect of policy change.
•
Turn your findings and ideas into client briefings, articles, short board papers, PowerPoint decks and videos for Deloitte leaders to test, refine and use. Create them directly or with AI tools, applying your own judgement to the finished work.
•
For the AI Academy, turn existing keynotes, presentations, briefings and expert input into structured learning for boards, executives, managers and wider workforces. Add global insights when useful.
•
Write scripts, prepare presenters and support recording and editing for client and Academy videos.
•
Create exercises and recorded modules, then prepare them for the chosen learning platform.
•
Create a simple working demonstration when it offers the clearest explanation.
2.
Organise the work and manage delivery
•
Manage incoming requests and coordinate outgoing meetings, briefings, speaking engagements and training.
•
Maintain one pipeline and forward plan for briefings, videos, Academy modules and live learning. Prioritise the work and track key deadlines.
•
Coordinate Deloitte leaders, specialists and other contributors. Organise the research, recording or learning resources each request requires.
•
Research credentials, learning platforms and video hosting. Recommend options that suit the Academy’s scale and needs, then help put the chosen approach in place.
•
Keep the Academy current, track what participants learn and prepare the Institute’s quarterly performance report against agreed measures.
Qualifications
Who this role will suit
This role combines a substantive technical background with strong writing and hands-on production of insights.
•
A strong technical foundation in AI, data science, computer science, software engineering, cybersecurity or another engineering discipline. You will have either a relevant tertiary qualification or substantial professional experience in a technical role.
•
Extensive hands-on experience with current AI tools and a habit of tinkering. You use AI regularly in your own work, test new tools as they emerge and know where they help, where they fail and what remains unproven.
•
Highly organised and comfortable working at pace. You can plan and prioritise a varied portfolio, anticipate deadlines and keep several workstreams moving.
•
Three to five years of relevant experience.
•
Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication. You can make technical developments accessible while preserving their substance.
•
A practical creative streak and strong self-direction. You can work from a short brief, fill the gaps, bring ideas and make the first version while staying aligned with agreed priorities.
•
Confidence producing strong decks or short videos, either directly or by directing AI tools and editing their output.
•
Confidence working with senior leaders and helping them communicate clearly.
•
Sound judgement and care with performance measures.
