About the company
Prairievale Public School is a P3 school located in Bossley Park on Dharug Land. The school has an enrolment of 402 students, with 92% of students from a language background other than English, representing 39 different language backgrounds and 19 Aboriginal students. Our school community is culturally and linguistically diverse, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive and high-expectations learning environment where every student is known, valued and cared for.
The school has seven Diverse Learner Classes catering for students with Autism and moderate intellectual disabilities, with inclusive practices embedded across all aspects of school operations. Prairievale Public School is also preparing for the establishment of a public preschool, anticipated to open in 2027. This significant development will strengthen early learning opportunities and support continuity of learning, wellbeing and development from preschool through to Year 6.
Prairievale Public School has a strong commitment to High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE), ensuring students have opportunities to discover, develop and demonstrate their potential across the intellectual, creative, social-emotional and physical domains. Through strategically funded and targeted initiatives, enrichment programs and differentiated learning experiences, the school actively promotes talent development and equitable access to challenging and engaging opportunities for all students.
Student wellbeing is a key priority, underpinned by a strong welfare framework that promotes proactive and preventative approaches to behaviour support. As a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school, Prairievale Public School embeds trauma-informed practices to foster a safe, respectful and supportive environment for students, staff and families.
The school maintains a strong focus on continuous improvement, evidence-informed teaching and high expectations for student learning and achievement. Classrooms are characterised by culturally responsive practices, rich dialogue, explicit teaching, visible learning strategies and the purposeful use of formative and summative assessment to inform differentiated and challenging learning experiences. Digital technologies and STEAM are integrated into teaching and learning to develop students’ creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
Prairievale Public School is committed to developing confident, capable and successful lifelong learners. Students benefit from a broad range of extracurricular, enrichment and leadership opportunities, supported by strong partnerships with families, community organisations and our Community of Schools.
