Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities. The salary ranges for a postdoc from 4229€ to 4649€ per month, depending on previous experience, and the postdoc contract will initially be made for 2 years. The contract includes Aalto University occupational healthcare. The primary workplace will be the Otaniemi Campus at Aalto University.
You will join the QD group led by Päivi Törmä at Aalto University. Päivi Törmä is a world-leading expert in nanophotonics and light-matter interactions with pioneering research on room temperature Bose-Einstein condensation and polariton lasing in plasmonic nanoparticle systems. For recent research outputs of Päivi Törmä’s at Google Scholar. For recent work on the embedded-nanoparticle OLEDs, see a pre-print publication at arXiv.
The research facilities available for the project are outstanding. The Department of Applied Physics has a wide infrastructure of tools and instruments, the largest micro-, nanofabrication research center in the Nordic countries: Micronova. The QD group’s advanced optical lab includes a femtosecond laser, two Fourier-plane imaging setups, electrical equipment such as source-meter units, oscilloscopes, and home-built OLED characterization setups. The group is also part of the Centre of Excellence in Quantum Materials (Qmat) and a member of the Finnish Quantum Institute (Institute Q).
Aalto University has six schools with 16 000 students and 400 professors. It is the largest university in Finland focusing on education and research and technology, science, business, and arts. The QD group is located on the Otaniemi campus in Espoo (10 km from the city center of Helsinki), which is one of the largest hubs of high-tech in Northern Europe.
