Mastered all the requirements for the Medical Assistants II and III positions with functional knowledge of the PSR roles regarding the check-in and check-out process for the clinic. Assists with onboarding new staff members in the MA and PSR roles.
May float to other clinics as needed to ensure the successful operation of clinics within the department.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Patient Care Duties:
•
Float between divisions and clinical sites and assist patients in all areas within the department.
•
Interacts directly with patients in the clinic setting and completes tasks which may include obtaining vital signs, completion of EKGs, phlebotomy, in office procedures, and verification of medications.
•
Prepare for office hours by doing tasks such as obtaining charts, scheduling tests, and preparing exam rooms.
•
Assists with examinations, procedures, and lab tests.
•
May assist with renewal and authorization of non-narcotic medications per standing orders and department guidelines.
•
May administer medications under the order of physicians or nurse practitioners (this includes vaccines and IM and subcutaneous injections).
