Job Description:
Position Overview: Truck Driver II
Wilsonart, in Houston, currently has an opening for a Truck Driver II. This person drives truck to transport materials to and from specified destinations in the assigned department/location. Performs other tasks as required.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•
Inspects Truck equipment and supplies
•
Maps out all accounts and optimizing routes
•
“Dispatcher” keeping constant communication with drivers on the road
•
Reviews all paperwork before trucks leave (calling customers, verifying COD’s arrival times etc.)
•
Checks truck back in, returns, ensuring proper paperwork is completed
•
Schedules flatbeds as needed
•
Ensures DOT compliance
•
Identifies outliers and determines efficient delivery methods
•
Drives truck to destinations and returns safely
•
Prepares and maintains required documentation
•
Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations
•
Performs emergency roadside repairs
•
Reads maps and plans routes to the load destination
•
Maintains acceptable driving record
•
Assists the needs of the customer
•
Assists in the distribution center as necessary or directed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
•
Knowledge of Department of Transportation and state regulations and local laws pertaining to vehicle operations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking/pushing/climbing and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight (>50 lbs) Examples: grounds staff and EMS
ENVIRONMENT: Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste mgt, laundry workers and yards/grounds staff
