We are looking for an experienced Senior Python Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems. The role requires strong expertise in Python, FastAPI/Flask, databases, asynchronous programming, microservices, and cloud-native technologies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering mindset, excellent problem-solving abilities, and hands-on experience building reliable backend services that can operate at scale. You will contribute to technical design, application architecture, performance optimisation, and the development of robust production-ready systems.

Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python 3.x.
•
Build high-performance APIs and backend services using FastAPI and/or Flask.

Design and implement robust RESTful APIs following industry standards.

Develop and maintain API specifications and documentation using OpenAPI and Swagger.
•
Design and optimise database schemas and data-access layers using SQLAlchemy ORM.
•
Implement effective session management, database transactions, and reliable data-processing workflows.
•
Work with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL for application development and data management.
•
Perform query optimisation, indexing, database performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
•
Develop applications using appropriate multithreading, concurrency, and asynchronous programmingtechniques.
•
Ensure backend services are thread-safe, reliable, and capable of handling concurrent workloads.
•
Design and develop scalable microservices and distributed systems.
•
Contribute to application architecture and technical design decisions.
•
Containerise applications using Docker and manage deployments using Kubernetes.
•
Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
•
Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimisation strategies.

Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and testable code following established engineering standards.

Develop unit tests and participate in code reviews to maintain high software quality.

Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.

What Makes You a Great Fit

8+ years of hands-on experience in Python backend development.
•
Strong expertise in Python 3.x and object-oriented software development.
•
Extensive hands-on experience with FastAPI and/or Flask.

Strong experience with SQLAlchemy ORM, session management, and database transactions.

Solid understanding of multithreading, concurrency, asynchronous programming, and thread-safe application development.

Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
