Job Description:
Facilities Management, Residential Facilities, seeks a Trades Helper to assist trades employees with daily activities on assigned jobs.
This position is located on the Tempe campus but will require working at other campus locations based on program need.

Essential Duties:
•
Assist trades technicians working in the Residential Facilities Services unit that provide facilities support to the campus residence halls.
•
Assisting trades personnel on repairs, collecting and delivering materials and equipment needed on the job site.
•
Clean and/or perform minor repairs on equipment.
•
Perform clean-up activities as jobs are completed.
•
Effectively communicate frequently with occupants and team members regarding work activities and timelines and provide customer service.
•
Use electronic work order systems to communicate status of projects and essential functions.
•
Safely operate university vehicles.
•
Utilize specific hand tools and equipment related to essential duties.
DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience in assisting with installing fixtures (e.g. faucets, toilets, urinals, thermostats, etc.).
Knowledge of:
•
General maintenance residential maintenance.
•
Facilities trades including plumbing and HVAC.
•
Basic computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Outlook Email).
•
Quality customer service delivery.
•
Using electronic work order systems (TMA).
Working Environment:
•
Work in and out of residence halls on campus maintaining effective communication with occupants.
•
Lift, bend, and carry up to 50 pounds.
•
Work off ladders, scaffolding, single man lifts up to 40 feet.
•
Wear personal protective equipment (safety glasses, gloves).

This position may require working a rotating on-call/stand-by schedule and may be called in for emergency response including nights, weekends, and holidays.
This position is considered safety/security sensitive and will include a fingerprint check. Employment is contingent upon successful passing of all background, including fingerprint checks.
Driving Requirement:
This position may require driving. Employee must possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.
