Responsibilities
Job details
As the Director of Global Literacy, you will report to the Executive Principal through Academic Management and lead a growing team of specialist teachers. You will oversee the subject across all year levels and should be organised, energetic, innovative, and committed to the School School’s aims.
•
Lead the development and delivery of Global Literacy across Grades 6–12, including international and compulsory Chinese curriculum pathways.
•
Review curriculum needs, select appropriate courses, and develop clear schemes of work and departmental policies.
•
Lead, support, and line-manage subject teachers through regular meetings, lesson observations, performance reviews, and professional development.
•
Set departmental targets, monitor performance, evaluate outcomes, and maintain accurate academic documentation.
•
Ensure consistently high standards of teaching, assessment, feedback, classroom management, and student progress.
•
Teach up to 20 lessons per week and prepare students for internal and external examinations.
•
Work with senior leadership, operations, and the timetabling team to coordinate staffing, classrooms, resources, and budgets.
•
Support students applying for subject-related university programmes, competitions, and enrichment opportunities.
•
Use assessment data and the school’s MIS effectively to monitor progress and improve teaching and learning.
•
Serve as a student tutor when required, supporting academic progress, wellbeing, and communication with parents.
•
Contribute actively to extracurricular activities, school events, admissions, marketing, and student recruitment initiatives.
•
Ensure full compliance with safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, and school policies.
