About the role
We are seeking an experienced Flight Deck Integration & Human Factors Engineer to support the design, integration, evaluation, and certification of advanced aircraft flight deck systems.
This position focuses on ensuring that aircraft hardware, software, cockpit interfaces, pilot tasks, and the operating environment are designed around the cognitive, perceptual, and physical capabilities of flight crews.
The successful candidate will contribute to User-Centered Design (UCD), Human-Machine Interface (HMI), Human Factors, ergonomics, usability testing, simulation, and flight deck certification activities across new aircraft development, cockpit modification, and sustaining programs.
Key Responsibilities
· Participate in User-Centered Design (UCD) activities related to aircraft flight decks, avionics, and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design.
· Support the design and evaluation of cockpit interfaces through prototyping, simulation, analysis, and usability testing.
· Apply cognitive and physical ergonomics principles to aircraft cockpit and flight deck design.
· Develop and conduct scenario-based evaluations and testing of flight deck systems.
· Develop and utilize HMI simulations and prototypes to evaluate system functionality and pilot interaction.
· Work directly with pilots and flight crews to assess cockpit usability, workload, situational awareness, accessibility, and overall user experience.
· Support the development of flight deck and HMI requirements.
· Conduct task analysis, workload assessments, human error analysis, and usability evaluations.
· Evaluate cockpit designs from both physical and cognitive Human Factors perspectives.
· Support Verification & Validation (V&V) activities associated with flight deck systems and interfaces.
· Participate in the development and evaluation of overall flight deck User Experience (UX) and design philosophy.
· Develop and maintain Human Factors engineering documentation supporting aircraft development and certification.
· Support Human Factors activities for new aircraft programs, significant cockpit modifications, avionics upgrades, and sustaining programs.
· Collaborate with avionics, systems, flight test, certification, industrial design, and other engineering organizations.
· Coordinate with Human Factors specialists supporting maintenance, manufacturing, maintainability, and aircraft operations.
· Plan, execute, analyze, and document Human Factors experiments, evaluations, and usability tests.
