About the role
(This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.)
The Assistant Manager, Data Analytics Operations is responsible for the day-to-day operation, support, and continuous improvement of the Authority’s data services delivered through the Enterprise Data Analytics Platform. The role ensures the availability, accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of data pipelines, executive dashboards, management reports, and data solutions that support business operations and executive decision-making. Working closely with business users, technical teams, and external service providers, the Assistant Manager oversees data operations, data quality monitoring, dashboard lifecycle management, incident resolution, and stakeholder engagement, and service delivery. The role also supports the planning and delivery of data and analytics initiatives, driving operational excellence through service monitoring, process automation, and continuous improvement initiatives to meet the Authority’s evolving analytics needs.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
•
overseeing the day-to-day operational support of the Enterprise Data Analytics Platform, ensuring the availability, reliability, timeliness, and service quality of analytics services and data delivery;
•
managing and supporting operational data pipelines, dashboards, reports, and analytics products, ensuring data quality, accuracy, reliability, and alignment with business requirements;
•
collaborating with business users and stakeholders to understand business needs, gather requirements, and coordinating analytics, dashboard and reporting enhancements that support data-driven decision-making;
•
supporting the planning and delivery of data and analytics projects, working closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors to ensure successful implementation and business value realization;
•
managing and coordinating incident resolution activities, including issue investigation, root cause analysis, escalation, communication, and service recovery.;
•
coordinating with external vendors and service providers to resolve issues, monitoring service performance, and ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs);
•
ensuring compliance with data governance, privacy, security, and operational standards, and maintaining relevant operational documentation and procedures;
•
identifying and implementing opportunities to improve operational efficiency, automate routine processes, strengthen monitoring capabilities, and enhance service reliability; and
•
performing any other duties as reasonably assigned by the Authority from time to time.
Requirements
You should:
•
possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related discipline;
•
have minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in data analytics operations, business intelligence, reporting services, enterprise data platforms, or data management functions;
•
have hands-on experience supporting data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, dashboards, and data services in an enterprise environment;
•
have experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) and a good understanding of dashboard and reporting delivery lifecycle;
•
have experience in data quality management, including data validation, issue investigation, root cause analysis, and data reconciliation;
•
have experience in incident management, production support, and operational troubleshooting for data and analytics platforms;
•
have good understanding of DataOps, analytics operations, service monitoring, data governance, data security, privacy, and compliance requirements;
•
have strong communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with business users, technical teams, vendors, and service providers to understand business needs, gather requirements, deliver data solutions, and ensure effective service delivery;
•
have strong business acumen and customer-focused mindset with the ability to understand organisational objectives, identify business opportunities, translate business requirements into effective data solutions, and deliver measurable business value;
•
be proactive and continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to optimise processes, enhance operational efficiency, and support business transformation;
•
be familiar with cloud-based analytics platforms (e.g. Microsoft Azure, AWS, AliCloud) and emerging AI technologies, including Generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot;
•
have knowledge of scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) is preferred;
•
be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese.
