About the role
Responsible for the generation, collection, evaluation, selection and development of innovative solutions in anticipation of trends or latent market needs. Develops new concept from initial design to market release. Writes proposals for existing clients to achieve new deliverables within an existing phase or as part of existing efforts. May assist with creation of product roadmap and defining user experiences by conducting research, analyzing the market and engaging key stakeholders.

Summary of the role

As a member of our global Product Innovation team for dispensing, the Principal Research and Development Engineer initiates the design, development, execution and implementation technical investigations. A successful Principal Research and Development Engineer applies principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems resulting in a healthy product development pipeline. Assignments involve problems of diverse and complex scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
Role and Responsibilities
•
Investigates the feasibility of technical approaches by applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products.
•
Plans and executes laboratory experiments.
•
Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. Contributes to scientific literature and conferences.
•
Participate in the development and strategy of patent applications.
•
May coordinate interdepartmental and global research efforts.
•
Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
•
Regularly interacts with executives and/or top customers promoting and demonstrating Nordson’s technical knowledge
•
Coordinates with Growth and Strategy team to ensure healthy product development pipeline
•
May lead projects of large scope
•
Other duties may be assigned as required
