About the company
BIS Safety Software is a SaaS company on a mission to change how organizations manage safety, learning, and compliance. Since 2006, we’ve been building innovative software that helps companies simplify training, improve compliance, and keep their people safe. As we grow, we’re investing seriously in design — and we’re looking for our first dedicated marketing designer to own how BIS looks everywhere it shows up.
About the Role
This is a hands-on design role at the centre of our marketing team. You’ll design the web pages, landing pages, ads, emails, and lead-driving content that move people from first click to conversion, and you’ll bring the same polish to trade show materials, print, and brochures.
We’re rebuilding our websites, and you’ll lead the design of that work — the system, the page designs, the whole experience. It’s the kind of project a designer gets to point at for years. Your work unlocks the work of others. Developers build from your designs, marketers launch campaigns with your assets, and the rest of the business looks to you for what good design looks like. That means delivering on timelines and being able to explain the rationale behind every choice you make. This is a role for a designer who does the work, not one who delegates it. You’ll bring strong ideas, explain the thinking behind them, and see them through to a polished finish.
We use AI tools and we’re happy for you to use them too, but we need someone with the craft to get the details right themselves.
This is an in-person role based out of our Sherwood Park, AB office.
In this role, you will be expected to:
•
Shape our brand standards — help define how we use our logo, colour, spacing, iconography, and imagery, and create guidelines the whole team can design against.
•
Design our website experience — lead the design of our site rebuild, creating a responsive design system and page designs in Figma that are ready for developers to build.
•
Move fast without cutting corners — thrive on a team where launches overlap and timelines are tight, delivering polished, on-brand work on schedule.
•
Carry campaigns across every channel — design web pages, emails, social and paid ads, guides, and downloadables that work together as one campaign.
•
Create for print and events — produce trade show materials, brochures, and swag that match the quality of our digital presence.
•
Own our asset library and protect brand consistency — build and manage a central library of approved assets, and guide agencies and freelancers so their work meets our standards.
•
Use data to design better — look at how pages and ads perform and use those insights to improve flows, layouts, and conversion points.
You might be the right fit if you:
•
Ask questions before jumping in, making sure you understand the goal and the audience before you start designing.
•
Can explain the “why” behind your design, grounding your choices in design principles rather than gut feel.
•
Move between formats without dropping quality, from a landing page to a trade show banner, with each piece designed for where it lives.
•
Welcome feedback and build buy-in, collaborating across the business rather than handing down a new look.
•
Work at pace and take pride in hitting deadlines, knowing others are counting on your work.
•
Stay current, with a modern, sharp design sensibility and curiosity about new tools, including AI.
Qualifications we are looking for:
•
3+ years of design experience across both graphic and web work, with a portfolio that shows real range.
•
A portfolio we can look at. Please include a link with your application - we’re most interested in recent work and in understanding the brief behind it.
•
Figma, Photoshop, and Illustrator, with InDesign or equivalent for print layout.
•
Systems thinking — you build reusable components and templates rather than one-off pieces, and you enjoy making a brand feel consistent everywhere.
•
Comfort using AI to explore and iterate, paired with the craft to finish the details yourself.
Bonus points if you have:
•
Experience building brand systems, iconography, or identity design.
•
Motion design skills for animated graphics and digital ads (After Effects or similar), or a knack for making product screens look good on video.
•
Experience working in an agency or in-house team across a variety of brands or campaigns.
•
Experience setting up or managing a digital asset library.
•
Interesting design work outside the usual, like illustration projects, games, or other creative explorations.
Compensation and benefits:
•
Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
•
Full medical, dental, and vision coverage
•
Life insurance and disability insurance
•
Health spending account
•
Flexible working hours
•
On-the-job training and growth opportunities
•
Free on-site parking
