State Emergency Coordination Center (SECC) CoordinatorMontana Disaster and Emergency Services – Fort Harrison, Montana
Montana Disaster and Emergency Services is seeking applicants for a State Emergency Coordination Center (SECC) Coordinator position in the Response Bureau. The SECC is Montana’s state-level coordination center for emergency response and incident support, helping connect information, partners, and resources before, during, and after emergencies.
Responsibilities
As an SECC Coordinator, you will work as part of a small, fast-paced team that connects information, partners, and resources before, during, and after emergencies. When activated, you will monitor multiple information sources, maintain status boards and a common operating picture, support situation reports and briefings, track requests for assistance, and coordinate with state agencies, local jurisdictions, and National Guard partners to ensure timely, well-documented support to incidents. You will help identify the most relevant information for decision-makers, anticipate potential cascading impacts, and keep the state postured to respond as conditions evolve.
When the SECC is not activated, you will help develop and refine SECC procedures, response plans, and job aids; support training, exercises, and readiness assessments; and assist with financial and documentation tracking that underpins reimbursement and accountability. This role is well suited for individuals with experience or education in emergency management, public safety, dispatch, logistics, military operations, or similar coordination-focused environments.
