The Research Specialist B will conduct experiments related to organic synthesis, peptide synthesis, and post-synthesis modification of peptides and peptide derivatives, including their characterization, extraction, purification, and analysis. The position will support the design, synthesis, and optimization of peptide therapeutics and work closely with computational team members to support peptide discovery, design, and optimization. The candidate will perform biophysical assays and will also learn and perform wet-lab assays, including basic microbiology and cell culture assays, and assist with animal models as needed to evaluate the anti-infective activity of therapeutic peptides. Additional responsibilities include mentoring and assisting other laboratory members, organizing experiments, maintaining equipment and workstations, and supporting the operation of the peptide laboratory.
