As a Senior Relationship Manager, you will serve as a trusted advisor to a portfolio of high-value commercial clients, leveraging your financial expertise, business development skills, and industry insights to identify opportunities, structure complex solutions, and create long-term value. What You’ll Do
Build and Grow Client Relationships
•
Manage and expand a portfolio of strategic commercial banking clients.
•
Develop trusted advisor relationships with business owners, executives, and key decision-makers.
•
Deliver exceptional client experiences by understanding client objectives and recommending tailored financial solutions.
•
Identify and capture share-of-wallet opportunities across lending, cash management, treasury, investment, and other banking services.
Drive Business Development
•
Proactively source new business opportunities and build a strong pipeline of prospective clients.
•
Develop and execute market growth strategies aligned with business objectives.
•
Leverage market intelligence, industry trends, and competitive insights to identify emerging opportunities and accelerate portfolio growth.
•
Represent the bank at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and generate business opportunities.
Structure Financial Solutions
•
Structure and negotiate complex credit facilities and banking solutions that meet client needs while balancing risk and profitability.
•
Lead credit discussions, secure approvals, and collaborate with internal partners to deliver innovative solutions.
•
Review lending and cash management agreements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with bank policies.
•
Conduct sophisticated financial analysis and credit assessments to support sound lending decisions.
Partner Across the Organization
•
Collaborate with product specialists, credit partners, risk teams, and senior leaders to deliver complete client solutions.
•
Act as a key escalation point for complex client situations, applying strategic thinking and problem-solving to achieve successful outcomes.
•
Provide insights and recommendations that contribute to business strategy and portfolio performance.
Deliver Strong Portfolio Performance
•
Monitor portfolio profitability, risk profile, and return on equity performance.
•
Regularly evaluate client relationships and identify opportunities to deepen engagement and optimize returns.
•
Prepare executive-level reporting on portfolio performance, market developments, and client trends.
•
Ensure all activities meet regulatory requirements, internal controls, and risk management standards.
What You Bring
Experience
•
4-7 years of experience in Commercial Banking, Relationship Management, Portfolio Management, or Business Development.
•
Proven success managing complex client relationships and delivering strong sales and revenue results.
•
Experience structuring, negotiating, and executing commercial lending transactions.
•
Strong understanding of financial statements, credit analysis, and risk assessment.
Education
•
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
•
Equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience will be considered.
•
Credit qualification requirements, where applicable.

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
