About the role
We are hiring a Data Platform Engineer to report to the Engineering Manager for the Internal Data Platform team. This role suits candidates with experience building data platforms at scale and a passion for solving complex analytical problems with modern technologies.
The successful candidate will have experience with big data systems and will design and develop high-quality software services. As part of our team, you will help develop and maintain solutions for Atlassian’s data platform, focusing on reliability, scalability and performance.

In this position, you will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, including backend specialists and core data engineers, who are dedicated to managing Atlassian’s customer-facing data platform.
Responsibilities
•
Design, develop and own delivery of high quality big data and software solutions aiming to solve business needs.
•
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior engineers and architects across multiple disciplines to spar, design, and ship new features.
•
Contribute to uplifting and maintaining high code quality through peer code reviews, defining and establishing coding standards/guidelines/best practices in the team.
•
Establish and drive improvements to operational excellence - security, reliability, availability, performance, procedures and processes etc.
•
Use data driven approach to drive decisions and propose technical solutions to navigate ambiguity and change, learn and adapt to changing landscape.
