This role is for one of Weekday’s clients
Min Experience: 4+ years
Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
JobType: full-time
About the role
We are now setting up a new team for Physical AI. This team will be focussed on building and shipping end to end products. These products may include legged robots, humanoids and other kinds of intelligent machines. We plans to build everything in-house: the mechanical design, the actuators, the electronics, and the software/models that control them. You will be the founding lead of this team.
Requirements
What you will work on
•
Lead the Physical AI team end to end: set the technical direction, make the build-vs-buy calls, and own the roadmap from first prototype to shipped product.
•
Architect the full robot: how the mechanical systems, actuators, electronics, and software come together into one working machine.
•
Build the intelligence of the robot. Train and deploy learned controllers and policies (RL, imitation learning), close the sim-to-real gap, and use modern AI models for perception and control.
•
Stay hands-on. You will write code, train models, debug boards, and be at the bench when a leg cracks or a policy fails on real hardware.
•
Hire and grow the founding team of engineers and interns, and set the bar for how the team builds.
•
Own what you and your team build. When the robot fails mid-step, you fix it end to end.
Who this is for
•
You have 4-8 years of experience building real robots or physical products that actually worked.
•
You combine robotics hardware depth with strong AI skills. You have trained policies or learned controllers that ran on real hardware, not just classical control or just simulation.
•
You are an extremely hands-on self starter, comfortable being the first person on the team and setting things up from scratch.
•
You have led engineers or projects before, formally or informally, and people want to work with you.
•
You are okay with things failing often, because in hardware they do.
•
We do not care much about GPA, publications, or where you interned. We care about what you have built and how you think about it.
