About the role
The Department of Radiology Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Research Center is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join our group of engineers, physicists, chemists, data scientists, and clinician scientists conducting research in medical imaging. The primary focus of our group is quantitative image analysis of functional and structural imaging of the human brain, specifically in studies of neurodegeneration, such as Alzheimer’s disease and aging with Down syndrome. Potential candidates will have the opportunity to participate in multi-disciplinary and multimodal translational and clinical research studies conducted in research facilities at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). Potential candidates will have access to cutting-edge PET and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques and data, in addition to large databases of multimodal biomarkers across multiple studies. The successful candidate will be expected to develop, implement, and evaluate image processing, statistical, and machine learning techniques in order to further our understanding of the pathophysiologic changes that lead to neurodegeneration and enhance prognostic accuracy and reliability. The candidate will be expected to present results at scientific conferences, publish in peer-reviewed journals, apply for external funding opportunities, and participate in the preparation of grant applications and progress reports. The successful candidate can expect to collaborate with and receive career mentoring from faculty across the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine, Engineering, and Computing and Information. Preference will be given to those with experience in neuroimaging, quantitative image analysis, deep learning, and related packages and programming languages (Python, Matlab, C/C++, R).
