About the role
At Truckstops Nelson, we’re looking for our next Apprentice Heavy Diesel Technician to join the team. If you’re mechanically minded, enjoy working with your hands, and want to build a career working on some of New Zealand’s most advanced trucks and commercial vehicles, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
As one of New Zealand’s largest employers of Heavy Diesel Apprentices, we’re committed to helping the next generation of technicians develop the skills, knowledge, and qualifications needed to succeed in the industry.
Is this you?
•
Want to earn while you learn?
•
Keen to gain a nationally recognised qualification?
•
Excited by the idea of working on powerful, modern trucks and transport equipment?
•
Looking for a long-term career with real growth opportunities?
If you answered “yes” to these questions, we’d love to hear from you.
What’s involved?
As an Apprentice Heavy Diesel Technician, you’ll learn alongside experienced technicians and develop the skills to service, maintain, diagnose, and repair heavy commercial vehicles to the highest standards.
Through the MITO apprenticeship programme, you’ll work towards a nationally recognised qualification in Heavy Automotive Engineering while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a busy workshop environment.
This is an opportunity to learn from the best, work with industry-leading technology, and build a career in a trade that is always in demand.
What we’re looking for
We’re more interested in attitude than experience, so if you’re motivated and eager to learn, we encourage you to apply.
You’ll ideally have:
•
A positive, can-do attitude
•
A genuine interest in mechanics, trucks, and how things work
•
NCEA Level 2 or equivalent, including Maths and English
•
The commitment and self-discipline required to complete your MITO studies
•
Reliable transport to and from work
•
A Full or Restricted Driver Licence
•
New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency
Nice to have
A pre-trade automotive qualification would be an advantage, but it’s not essential.
