What you’ll do
Giga Energy is hiring a Head of Quality to own quality strategy, systems and outcomes across its electrical equipment manufacturing business. This leader builds and runs an enterprise-level Quality Management System (QMS), ensures every product meets UL,IEEE, and leads the quality organization from supplier to shipment and field. The role carries direct accountability for UL listing integrity, customer confidence and a measurable reduction in cost of poor quality.
Where you’ll work
This role is ideally based near our facilities in Long Beach or Houston, with full-time onsite expectations outside of bi-weekly WFH Fridays with 20-50% travel as needed.
That said, we will make exceptions for truly exceptional talent if you live outside one of our hubs. If you’re the right person for this role, we’ll have a conversation about what works.
Responsibilities
Quality Management System
•
Develop, implement and continuously improve an enterprise-wide QMS, including policies, procedures, work instructions, document control and records management.
•
Lead internal audits, management review and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) programs; drive them to verified closure.
Codes, Standards and Listing Compliance
•
Own UL relationships, including listings, follow-up service inspections, factory audits, Client Test Data programs and corrective actions for UL 891 switchboards and oil-filled transformer constructions.
•
Ensure compliance with applicable IEEE and other regulatory requirements
•
Maintain traceability from design requirements and listing files to production controls, so no unapproved change reaches a listed product.
Product and Process Quality
•
Define inspection and test plans, hold points and acceptance criteria for transformers and switchboards, including dielectric, impedance, temperature-rise and short-circuit-related verification.
•
Lead nonconformance, root cause (8D, 5-Why, FMEA) and customer-complaint processes.
•
Govern calibration, test equipment control and measurement system analysis.
Supplier and Field Quality
•
Establish supplier qualification, scorecards, audits and incoming inspection for critical components such as steel, copper, oil, bushings, breakers and enclosures.
•
Own warranty and field-failure analysis and feed lessons learned back into design and production.
Leadership and Culture
•
Build, develop and lead a multi-site quality team (engineers, inspectors, auditors, test technicians).
•
Partner with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Sales; report quality performance to executive leadership.
