Responsibilities
•
Prepare, examine, and analyse accounting records, financial statements, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
•
Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure transactions are properly recorded and classified.
•
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
•
Compute taxes, prepare tax schedules and returns, and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
•
Support budgeting and forecasting processes by analysing costs, revenues, and financial trends.
•
Monitor expenses and compare budgeted figures against actual results, providing variance analysis and explanations.
•
Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and other accounts reflected in the Statement of Financial Position.
•
Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
•
Develop, maintain, and improve accounting and record-keeping systems using current accounting software and tools.
•
Ensure proper documentation, filing, and retention of financial records.
•
Support process improvements and internal controls to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements
•
Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Accounting or a related discipline.
•
Minimum of Second Class Upper (2:1).
•
ICAN certification or part-qualification is an added advantage.
•
Minimum of 2 years’ relevant accounting experience in a similar role.
•
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and analysis.
•
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel (advanced level).
•
Experience with accounting software and financial systems.
•
Basic understanding of tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements.
•
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
•
Good written and verbal communication skills.
•
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
